Poppy named ANZ Tennis Hot Shot of the Year

Poppy, a 10-year-old from Queensland, is the 2017 ANZ Tennis Hot Shot of the Year.

ANZ Tennis Hot Shots ambassador Alicia Molik presented her with the award in a special presentation at Rod Laver Arena during the Australian Open.

“I was shocked when they called my name out, I didn’t expect it,” Poppy said.

“I’m so excited to win.”

Poppy, who is a green ball player at the Bundaberg Junior Tennis Association, receives a grand prize of $5,000 from ANZ, a year of free tennis coaching and a private coaching lesson for her and three friends with Molik at her local tennis club.

The eight nominees for the ANZ Tennis Hot Shot of the Year award received a VIP experience at the Australian Open, which included meeting ANZ ambassador Dylan Alcott and playing at Rod Laver Arena during the tournament.

“To be somewhere where Roger Federer or Serena Williams have played on – that was just so cool,” Poppy said of the experience.
