ANZ Tennis Hot Shot of the Year nominee: Khalid

Eight lucky participants will be selected as nominees for the ANZ Tennis Hot Shot of the Year award in 2018.

All nominees receive an equipment pack and a VIP experience at Australian Open 2019, as well as being in the running for the major prize that includes a lesson with ANZ Tennis Hot Shots ambassador Alicia Molik.

Where do you play ANZ Tennis Hot Shots and what stage do you currently play?

I play tennis at the East Coburg Tennis Club and I play at the Orange ball level.

What do you like about playing tennis?

I like being outdoors, running around and winning games – that’s what I really like about tennis.

What is your favourite shot and why?

My favourite shot is the backhand, because with the backhand I hit it in a way that I win points.

Who do you like playing tennis with?

I like playing with my mate Max, because he is a very good player and I like trying to beat him.

Do you have a favourite tennis player?

Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic are my favourite players, but Federer is my most favourite.

Do you have any tennis goals?

Yes. I would like to win all the matches, championships and Grand Slams.

What is your favourite tennis memory? 

Attending ANZ Tennis Hot Shots Match Play this year and getting a medal is my favourite tennis memory.

How does it feel to be nominated for the ANZ Tennis Hot Shot of the Year award?

Fantastic, because I am getting a prize and also because I will get to play on Rod Laver Arena and also watch the Australian Open at Rod Laver Arena.

What are you looking forward to when you visit the Australian Open?

I look forward to watching Federer and Nadal play against each other.
